FBA Students Visit the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Students from the IUS Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA) visited the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHAS) on Friday, November 28, 2025, as part of an educational trip designed to deepen their understanding of official statistics and their practical applications. The visit included students from the Econometrics and Research Methods in Business courses, accompanied by their instructors, Dr. Edo Omerčević and Dr. Ognjen Riđić. The activity was organized with the support of Dr. Edin Šabanović, an adjunct instructor at IUS, who served as the main point of contact with the Agency.

The group was welcomed by the Agency’s director, Ms. Vesna Ćužić, along with key staff members. Through presentations and discussion, students were introduced to the structure of the statistical system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the legal framework regulating official statistics, and the Agency’s cooperation with EUROSTAT.

BHAS representatives explained the processes of data collection, processing, and dissemination, and highlighted challenges encountered in producing reliable statistical outputs. Students raised questions about the availability of certain datasets and the limitations related to confidentiality and data access. It was emphasized that the value of statistics lies in its practical use, and the Agency expressed readiness to assist with inquiries whenever possible.

As part of the visit, the Agency’s staff conducted a short interactive knowledge test. Students who provided correct answers received small tokens of appreciation.

This activity enabled students to gain a clearer understanding of how official data is produced and how it can support research, policy analysis, and decision-making in business environments. The Faculty of Business and Administration extends its gratitude to the Agency for Statistics of BiH and its staff for their cooperation and for facilitating this educational visit.
