IUS Professors and Students at ACRYRED Seminar
On November 3-4, 2023, ten IUS students from the Genetics and Bioengineering study program, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić, and Economics and Management study programs, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Knezović and Asst. Prof. Dr. Azra Bičo, visited the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Banja Luka. The visit was part of the ACRYRED Workshop, partially supported by the DeepGreenInno Project.
During the ACRYRED workshop, five students from the Genetics and Bioengineering study program had the invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience in acrylamide isolation. This hands-on experience gave them a deeper understanding of the techniques and procedures involved in separating and purifying acrylamide, a crucial component in various molecular biology and biochemistry experiments. Through this workshop, students not only enhanced their laboratory skills but also gained insight into the significance of acrylamide in genetic and bioengineering research, further enriching their academic and practical knowledge in the field. Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić held a presentation about the influence of acrylamide on cancer development.
During the same seminar, students of the Economics and Management study programs had a chance to visit the Chamber of Commerce of the Republika Srpska, where they were introduced to the general operation aspect of the Chamber as well as collaboration and standardization of practices at the national level as a part of the EU integration package. Furthermore, as a part of the visit to laboratories, they were introduced to different ways of projects and equipment funding and how the natural science output could be materialized in the business environment.
The DeepGreenInno project continues with the national workshop at IUS on November 14-15, 2023.
